Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL - Before a crowd of 5,073 at Carver Arena in Peoria, the Peoria Rivermen defeated the Chicago Wolves on Friday evening by a score of 4-1. Although right wing Mike Glumac came into this game second on the Rivermen in points, he served as the leader of the Peoria offense on this night with two goals, including the game-winner, on two shots and a plus-two rating.

At the 16:36 mark of the second period, Peoria's Mike Glumac skated in on right wing with his centerman Blake Evans to his left. He started to pass to Evans, but when the two Chicago defenders backed off of him to take away a pass, Glumac fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal past Chicago goalie Tuomas Tarkki to give the Rivermen a 2-1 lead. That goal ended up being the game-winning goal.

Glumac's second goal of the night put the Rivermen up 4-1 in the third period. Gliding through the slot on a two-on-one break with left wing Peter Sejna, Glumac took a nice feed from the right face-off dot from Sejna and one-timed the puck by Tarkki to the stick side at 11:59.

With the win, the Rivermen improved to 11-4-0-1 on the season, and they are now 7-3-0-1 at their Carver Arena home. The victory for Peoria also halted the three-game winning streak of the Wolves, who are now 6-7-1-2 overall and 4-5-0-2 on the road.

Peoria got on the scoreboard first right after a face-off in the Chicago zone. After center Gavin Morgan won the face-off at the left dot, winger Brendan Brooks cut in and got the puck to the front of the net, where left wing D. J. King banged away at it and stuffed it in on his third attempt. The goal gave the Rivermen a 1-0 lead at the 9:14 mark of the first period.

Like Peoria, Chicago got its first goal of the game off of a face-off. Taking a draw at the left face-off dot in the Rivermen zone, Wolves center Jared Ross won it to winger Ramzi Abid. Abid then shot it from the left-wing boards, and the puck flew by Peoria netminder Jason Bacashihua to tie the game at 1-1 at 9:39 of the second period.

The Rivermen went ahead 3-1 in the third frame. During a Wolves power play, Rivermen right wing Jon DiSalvatore stole the puck just outside the Chicago blueline. Skating in alone from the left point, DiSalvatore then got Tarkki down on the ice with a deke to the right and backhanded the puck up over him for a shorthanded goal at 9:25.

The Rivermen will close out the Thanksgiving weekend by hosting the Iowa Stars on Saturday for an 8:00 p.m. game at Carver Arena.
