Trenton Titans News Release

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - First-period goals by Nick Sirota and Dwight Helminen - one on a deflection another on the power play - were enough to carry the Kalamazoo Wings to a 2-0 win over the visiting Trenton Titans Friday night.

The K-Wings (34-23-2-5-75) handed the Titans (19-37-3-56-46) their third shutout loss of the season and ninth straight before 2,635 at Wings Stadium. The 37th setback tied a franchise record.

On the bright side for the Titans was the play of goalie Dave Caruso, who saved 34-of-36 as the Titans were outshot 36-26. K-Wings netminder Riley Gill, who stopped 26 shots, recorded his second shutout of the season.

Caruso made several key saves that kept the game close. The K-Wings' excellent back-checking throttled the Titans' offense for most of the evening.

The Titans head to Chicago for a weekend series with the Express, playing at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
