Brandt Called up to AHL Abbotsford

Alternate team captain Andy Brandt has been called up to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Brandt makes his fourth trip to the AHL of his career. He earned two assists in five games last season with the Manitoba Moose. He was twice recalled to the AHL with Lake Erie for two games and to Manitoba for three games in 2009-10, but did not register a point.

Brandt shares 6th in scoring with Gwinnett this season with 41 points. He has recorded 15 goals and 26 points in 65 games this season for Gwinnett. He recorded his 50th goal as a Gladiator on December 3rd at Florida to become the 7th player in team history to record 50 or more goals in a Gwinnett career. Brandt appeared in 263rd game as a Gladiator on February 3rd to set the all-time Gladiators record for most games played.

The Wausau, Wisconsin native has skated in five seasons in the ECHL. He has earned 184 points (75 goals, 109 assists) in 346 career ECHL games with Gwinnett and Victoria.

Brandt helped the University of Wisconsin to an NCAA Frozen Four National Championship in 2006. In four season at the University of Wisconsin from 2003-2007, Brandt recorded 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 130 career collegiate games.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
