Toledo Walleye News Release
(Chicago, IL)- Mike Thomas and Todd Griffith each scored for the Walleye but they lose in Chicago 5-2. Toledo is 27-31-2-4 on the season and 13-17-2-1 away from home.
Toledo would start the scoring when Todd Griffith collected an unassisted goal at 1:49 of the opening period. It was the 16th goal of the season for Griffith. The Express would counter with a pair of goals from Pierre-Luc Faubert on Alec Richards as Chicago led 2-1 after the first period.
"We wanted to continue to be very physical against Chicago," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "That is why we have been so successful against this team this year. We were unable to finish our chances and Chicago made us pay." The Walleye would tie the game at two when Mike Thomas flipped a backhand shot past Rob Madore at 9:36 of the second period. Joey Martin and Kyle Rogers assisted on the 5th goal of the season for Mike Thomas. Defenseman Scott Wietecha beat Richards with a blue line shot late in the second as the Express led 3-2 after forty minutes.
