Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Tuesday that goaltender Jeremy Smith was recalled by the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team's NHL affiliate.

Smith, 25, is 21-14-3 with Springfield this season, posting a 2.78 goals-against average, .898 save percentage and one shutout. The Dearborn, Michigan native spent a week with Columbus earlier this season, but did not appear in a game.

Prior to the 2013-14 season, Smith spent three years in the Nashville Predators organization with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. The 6-foot, 180-pound netminder went 66-46-7 with eight shutouts in 128 games played.

Smith was a second-round selection (54th overall) by the Predators in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Springfield closes out its regular-season schedule with two road tests this weekend - Friday, April 18 at the Hartford Wolf Pack and Saturday, April 19 at the Albany Devils.

The Falcons will host their first two home playoff games Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at the MassMutual Center. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m., although an opponent has yet to be determined. Playoff plans are available by calling a Falcons sale representative at (413) 739-GOAL (4625), and single-game tickets are on sale now at the MassMutual Center box office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Support the Falcons throughout the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs by wearing red, white and blue at all home games.
