IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals search for a 10th-straight win when they battle the Reading Royals at the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m. With a victory tonight, Elmira would match its longest winning streak in ECHL play, accomplished from the end of the 2008-2009 season (three games) through the start of the 2009-2010 campaign (seven games). The Jackals come off of a 4-3 shootout win on Sunday at First Arena over the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Royals, who are 7-3-0-1 since snapping a nine-game winless streak on Dec. 9, last played on Saturday, falling to the Chicago Express on the road, 5-3.
GAZLEY GARNERS WEEKLY HONOR
Dustin Gazley became the second Jackal this season and eighth in team history win the ECHL Player of the Week Award, earning the title for his efforts this past weekend. Gazley contributed six points last week (3g-3a), including a career-high three assists and four points in Saturday's 4-1 win over Cincinnati. The Novi, Mich. native leads ECHL rookies with 23 assists and is third among first-year skaters with 32 points. Since the winning streak began on Dec. 17, Gazley is tied with Louie Caporusso for the team lead with 13 points (4g-9a) and is +8.
ONE-GOAL WONDERS
The Jackals lead the league in one-goal victories with a 15-3-0-0 record in 2011-2012. Elmira has not lost a one-goal game since Nov. 11, when the Jackals fell to the Royals at First Arena, 5-4. Eight of Elmira's nine victories during the winning streak have been by one goal.
