Alaska Aces News Release

Even down to 12 skaters to finish the game, nothing seems to be able to slow down the Alaska Aces. Adam Courchaine made 29 saves for his second shutout of the year and the shorthanded Aces scored a goal each period in a 3-0 win over the Stockton Thunder on Thursday night from Sullivan Arena. The Aces win extended their winning streak to a season-best seven games, and lifted their point streak to 11 games. Alaska improved their league best record to 27-5-5, with a 21-3 home record. The Aces and Thunder continue their weekend series on Friday, and Saturday. Tickets are on sale now. Already playing down two men to start the night due to call-ups and injuries, Aces captain Brian Swanson left the game early after a hit from Stockton's Garet Hunt, dropping Alaska down to 13 skaters for the remainder of the night. Alaska still struck first at 12:18 when Jordan Kremyr went hard to the net and out a rebound past Olivier Roy for the only goal of the first period. Stockton outshot Alaska 10-8 in the first period.

On a carryover power play to begin the second period, the Aces struck immediately to extend their lead. Nick Mazzolini struck from the top of the right circle 28 seconds into the period, making it 2-0 Alaska. The Aces kept that advantage for the remainder of the period, while being outshot 10-7 in the period.

The Aces completed the scoring in the third period when Steve Ward tallied his fourth of the season - all on the power play - on a nifty set up from Bryan Miller on a shot pass at 10:08. From there, Courchaine and company kept Stockton at bay to preserve the 3-0 victory. Tyler Ruegsegger was assessed a late five-minute boarding penalty ending his night early, and forcing Alaska to finish the game with 12 skaters.

Adam Courchaine (10-1-3) earned the win, making 29 saves on 29 shots, while Olivier Roy (7-9-4) made 20 saves on 23 shots, taking the loss. The Aces power play went 2-7, while the Thunder went 0-4. Alaska were outshot by Stockton 29-23 in the game.

The Aces and Thunder continue their weekend series on Friday, and Saturday. Tickets are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.
