Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Syracuse, New York - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (13-14) exploded for a six-run seventh inning en route to a 9-7 win over the Syracuse Mets (14-14) on Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Both teams socked two-run homers in the fourth inning to start the scoring, with Dustin Peterson hitting his first of the year for Lehigh Valley while Mark Vientos hit his ninth of the season for Syracuse.

Jaylin Davis propelled Syracuse in front in the sixth with a two-run, two-out triple.

The IronPigs responded immediately after falling behind in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, Jim Haley ripped a two-run double to tie the game before Esteban Quiroz drove in two more himself with a double to put Lehigh Valley back in front. A John Hicks single pushed Quiroz to third and he then scored on a Simon Muzziotti fielder's choice. Peterson capped off the inning with an RBI single to make it 8-4.

Quiroz swatted his second double of the night in the eighth, driving in Haley again to make it 9-4.

Syracuse got two in the eighth on a Davis two-run homer, his third of the year. In the ninth, three straight two-out singles, the final from Vientos, scored another run and brought the winning run to the plate, but Jesus Cruz (S, 1) held on for the 9-7 win.

Michael Plassmeyer (1-2) earned the win in relief for the IronPigs. Plassmeyer went four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk, striking out five.

Eric Orze (1-1) took the loss for the Mets after allowing six runs (five earned) in one-third of an innings on six hits and a walk, striking out one.

Ranger Suarez fired two no-hit scoreless innings in his rehab outing, allowing just a walk and striking out one. He was removed from the game following a rain delay that preceded the bottom of the third inning.

With his 3-for-5 performance, Muzziotti is now 16-for-26 (.615) over his past six games which includes three, three hit games and a four-hit game.

The IronPigs continue their series against the Syracuse Mets on Wednesday, May 3. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.
