
IronPigs edged out by Buffalo

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-15) lost to the Buffalo Bisons (18-14) 4-3 on Wednesday evening.
The IronPigs were able to get a run against Casey Lawrence in the bottom of the first inning as Nick Maton scored on a force out hit by Jorge Bonifacio. Edgar Cabral homered against Lawrence in the bottom of the second inning that would give Lehigh Valley a 2-0 lead. It was Cabral's first triple-A home run.
Buffalo was able to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning against James Marvel. Mallex Smith scored on a wild pitch before Nathan Lukes hit a home run, his first of the season. Despite the two runs allowed, Marvel turned in his best start of the season. He pitched six innings and gave up three hits while issuing three walks and recording three strikeouts.
Mark Appel pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning, issuing one strikeout and giving up one hit. The Bisons scored two runs against Michael Kelly (0-1) in the top of the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead. Samad Taylor hit a two-run single against Kelly that scored Gabriel Moreno and Nathan Lukes.
Cabral gave Lehigh Valley their third run of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning against Matt Gage. John Andreoli flew out to left field to end the game. Gage earned his fourth save of the season. Adrian Hernandez (2-0) earned the win for Buffalo.
The IronPigs and Bisons continue their series on Thursday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
