KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 13, 2012) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators edged the Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-3 in seven innings, on Monday night at CMC- NorthEast Stadium. The Intimidators had beaten the Shorebirds, 7-0, earlier in the day in the completion of a previously suspended game.

The Intimidators scored two runs in the fifth inning to break a tie game. Adam Heisler led off by drawing a walk and moving to second on a sac-bunt before stealing third and coming home on a passed ball, one of three by Delmarva catcher Adam Davis. Grant Buckner later added an RBI-single for a 4-2 lead.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Delmarva used a two hits and a walk to pull within a run and put the tying run on third before Max Peterson struck out the final batter to end the game. Peterson fanned three in the seventh for the save (4) to preserve a win for Jeff Soptic (3-1), who tossed two scoreless, hitless innings for Kannapolis. Delmarva's Williams Louico (0-5) took the loss, allowing four unearned runs.

Courtney Hawkins, the Chicago White Sox first round pick from this summer's draft, made his Class A debut, going 0-1 with a walk, a stolen base, a run scored and a sac-bunt. Hawkins, the 13th overall pick, is the first high school player selected by the White Sox in the first round since 2001.

The Intimidators and Shorebirds play two more games on Tuesday, continuing a suspended game from June 24 (tied 0-0, Mid 4), before playing a 7-inning game afterward. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
