CHARLESTON, SC - For a decade now, The Joe and the annual Ballpark Festival of Beers have been synonymous with Lowcountry Fun. The festival, this year presented by Piggly Wiggly, will continue to offer some of the finest beers on earth while also capturing the enthusiasm for local food trucks.
Attendees can sample more than 100 varieties of beer including international ales, stouts, lagers, pilsners, specialty brews, and more to quench the taste buds of every die-hard beer enthusiast on Saturday, August 25 from 6-10pm at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park. The event is rain or shine.
The first 2,500 people will receive a commemorative sampling glass and a sampling punch-card booklet good for 5-ounce tastes of their favorite beers.
Live music will be provided by the Blue Plantation Band to start the evening. Blue Plantation Band is an acoustic string band with a diverse variety of authentic musical styles including bluegrass, Irish, folk, country, swing and jazz.
Additional live entertainment will be provided by the Larry David Project. Comprised of Larry Strickland and David Dunning, the pair is a fun-oriented Charleston rock duo with an incredible variety of songs from yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
"Local Since Forever" is Piggly Wiggly's current advertising theme. The chain has been catering to the Lowcountry and outlying regions for decades, helping us establish and create our neighborhood cuisines.
One new aspect to the 2012 version of the Ballpark Festival of Beers is some terrific Lowcountry eats from several of Charleston's favorite food trucks and the combination just gets better. Enjoy unique cookery from The Magic Cheese Truck, Pot Kettle Black, Tokyo Crepes, and Geechee Island.
The Ballpark Festival of Beers is a 21-and-over event. Pets, kids, babies in strollers, and anyone under the age of 21 will not be allowed into the facility. Advanced tickets are $25 at the participating Piggly Wiggly locations or $30 at the RiverDogs Box Office or on-line at www.rileyparkevents.com or www.riverdogs.com.
