Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 13, 2012) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators shutout the Delmarva Shorebirds 7-0 at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in the completion of a previously suspended game from July 29. Because the game was originally started in Delmarva, the Intimidators played as the road team in front of the home crowd. The teams resumed play with Kannapolis up 1-0 after two innings of play.
Chris Hanna took the mound in the bottom of third for Kannapolis and picked up where starter Bryan Blough left off. Hanna (2-2) dazzled over seven scoreless relief innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out two to earn the victory.
The Intimidators led 1-0 through the first six innings until center fielder Adam Heisler launched a three-run home run (1) in the top of the seventh inning. It was the second home run by an Intimidators center fielder this season.
Kannapolis tacked on three runs in the ninth inning, highlighted by triples from Joe De Pinto and Joey DeMichele, who each scored from third on a balk by reliever Alex Schmarzo.
The Intimidators and Shorebirds will play a 7-inning game beginning at approximately 7:05 p.m. tonight at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com .
