Savannah Sand Gnats News Release

Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats won their fourth straight game, defeating the Lexington Legends 4-3 Monday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Gnats' four-game winning streak is their longest since a six-game winning streak June 10-17 to close out the first half.

The Gnats (22-27/63-53) never trailed Monday night. The first two Savannah runs, in the first and third innings scored on balks from Legends' starter Chris Devenski. LF Dustin Lawley drove home the Gnats' third and fourth runs, in the third and fifth innings, with sacrifice flies.

Savannah starter Michael Fulmer worked around baserunners in each of his five innings, but kept Lexington (27-23/66-53) off the scoreboard through four innings. He allowed the leadoff man to reach base in four straight innings, and in the fifth, the Legends broke through against Fulmer on a Chan Jong Moon RBI single to centerfield. Fulmer struck out four and walked three while allowing one run to earn his seventh win of the year.

The Gnats took a comfortable-looking 4-1 lead into the ninth. However, reliever Chasen Bradford walked the first three batters in the inning to put the tying run at first with no outs. Savannah called on TJ Chism who walked the first batter he saw to force in a run to cut the Gnats' lead to 4-2 and advance the tying run to second with still no outs. A groundout on the right side brought home the third Lexington run and moved the tying run to third with one out. Chism then struck out Moon and induced a flyout to shallow right to close out his 17th save of 2012.

The Gnats look for their fifth win in a row when LHP Alex Panteliodis (4-5, 3.08) faces off against RHP Mike Foltynewicz (13-3, 2.93) on Tuesday at 7:05 pm. Gates at Historic Grayson Stadium open at 6 pm and the radio broadcast, presented by Subway, begins on News/Talk 630 and online at sandgnats.com at 6:45 pm.

Two for Tuesday presented by Natty Light and ESPN 102.1

Natty Light drafts will be two-for-one.
