Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats, the Class-A affiliate of the New York Mets, will welcome former MLB hurler, Denny McLain, to Historic Grayson Stadium on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. McLain is most well-known for his career with the Detroit Tigers.

McLain made his Major League debut with the Tigers as a 19 year old in 1963. In 1968 he became the last pitcher in the majors to win 30 or more games during a season. He also helped lead the Tigers to a World Series Title in 1968. McLain is a three-time All Star and two time Cy Young Award winner. After multiple injuries and a trade he retired at the age of 29 in 1973.

Denny McLain will be making a stop in Savannah as part of a multi-city minor league park tour this summer. McLain will be available for autographs, pictures, and questions beginning when gates open tomorrow night at 6pm. Copies of his book will also be available for purchase.
