
Suns Take First of Crucial Series with Hickory

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (69-49/27-22) took the first of three games with the Hickory Crawdads (63-56/27-23), 5-1, at Municipal Stadium on Monday night.
Suns starter Taylor Jordan (1-2) earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing just two single while striking out six batters. Bryce Ortega's early two-run triple proved to be the winning hit, while Matt Skole delivered his 92nd RBI of the season.
Crawdads' starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (11-7) suffered the loss, giving up three runs over three innings. Catcher Kellin Deglan hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, his 11th of the season, to bring in Hickory's lone run.
The Suns and Crawdads will play game two of the series on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Taylor Hill (10-6, 4.75) is scheduled to make the start for Hagerstown. LHP Will Lamb (4-8, 4.79) will take the ball for Hickory.
