Idaho Breaks out Blue and Orange to Help St. Luke's
November 26, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (11/26/14) - The ECHL's Idaho Steelheads are getting in the spirit of the home-town Boise State University football team's attempt to earn an invitation to a major bowl game, wearing specially-themed, blue and orange jerseys on the ice when the Bakersfield Condors come to town next week.
The jerseys will be worn by the Steelheads on December 3, 5 and 6 and will be auctioned via silent auction at those games with the proceeds going to benefit St. Luke's Children's Hospital. One hundred percent of the money raised by the auction - every penny - will go to St. Luke's Children's Hospital.
Fans are encouraged to visit the silent-auction tables on the CenturyLink Arena concourse behind Section 113 (directly across from the main entrance) at any of the games to place a bid on their favorite jersey. The highest bid when the second period ends Saturday night will win the jersey and the winning bidder will have the opportunity to take the jersey directly from the player once the game is over. A player's jersey can be purchased outright for $1,500.
Dating back to 1998, the Steelheads have raised over $465,000 via specialty jersey auctions for local charities and non-profit organizations.
This marks the third time the Steelheads have worn Boise State-themed jerseys, raising more than $40,000 between the two previous events.
The Steelheads are on the road this weekend in Anchorage, Alaska, against the Aces Friday and Saturday. Game time is 9:15 PM (Mtn) and can be heard live in the Treasure Valley on KTIK (1350 AM).
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
