Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Four straight third period goals by the Evansville IceMen (7-7-0-1) helped them erase a 3-1 deficit and snag a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones (6-5-0-2) in front of 5,568 at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
After nearly a full period of scoreless hockey, the IceMen jumped ahead late when Jarret Lukin guided the puck past Rob Madore (L, 27 saves, 4-3-0-2) at 17:56 to make it 1-0 through 20 minutes.
In a tenacious second frame, the Cyclones found the net twice to take their first lead of the night. At 8:05, Christiaan Minella fired a rebound past goaltender Chris Driedger, W, 23 saves, 4-5-0-1) to knot things at one. Then, at 16:48, a bouncing puck found Byron Froese between the circles and he quickly snapped in his sixth goal of the season, which gave him a five-game point-scoring streak. The home team took the 2-1 edge into the second intermission.
The Cyclones jumped ahead by two just 2:49 into the final stanza as Josh Shalla sniped in his team-leading ninth goal of the season right off of a clean face-off win by Froese, making it 3-1. Unfortunately, the IceMen would rally in a big way. Andre Bouvet-Morissette and Kevin Harvey scored goals exactly three minutes apart beginning at 12:36 to pull even before Matt Lowry stung a shot from the high slot, off the crossbar, and into the net for the eventual game-winning goal at 19:48. Bouvet-Morrissette picked up an empty-net strike with four seconds remaining to seal a 5-3 win for Evansville.
After celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, the Cyclones will hit the road for a quick two-game weekend series with the Indy Fuel. Fans can hear action of both tilts on the Cyclones Radio Network beginning at 7:15pm with the opening face-off to follow at 7:35pm. We'll host our Coors Light Viewing Party at the Game Time Sports Bar & Grill in Cheviot on both nights featuring great food and drink specials.
The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday, December 3 as they play host to the Utah Grizzlies at 7:30pm! It will be another "Wet Wednesday," where fans 21+ can enjoy $1 beers, plus we'll pay homage to the movies of late, great Robin Williams! Call 513.421.PUCK to secure your seats and for more details.
