Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

Last Weeks Highlights:

12/2/03 > Long Beach 3 at Alaska 7

The Ice Dogs continued their struggles on the road this season, this time falling to the Alaska Aces 7-3. Long Beac, who has not won on the road since an opening day victory over Roanoke on October 17, fell behind 5-0 in the third period before scoring 3 straight goals to attempt a comeback. But a pair of late period goals by the Aces put the game out of reach and hand the Ice Dogs their 3rd loss in a row.

12/3/03 > Long Beach 1 at Alaska 2 (OT)

Although the Ice Dogs extended their road winless streak to nine games on Wednesday, they did manage a point on the road for the first time since October 24. The overtime loss saw solid goaltending by Colin Zulianello, who turned away 45 Alaska shots. Craig Lyons put Long Beach on the board first, but leading goal scorer Charles Linglet tied the game on a power play early in the third period. Mark Smith scored the game winner with 38 seconds left in overtime when Dan Vendermeer was given a high sticking penalty.

12/7/03 > Long Beach 2 vs. Charlotte 6

The road woes of the Ice Dogs followed them home this time as they fell to the Charlotte Checkers in the teams' first ever meeting. The Ice Dogs, who have won only once in their last eight games, ties the score at one late in the first period on a power play goal by Kevin McDonald. But five consecutive goals by the Checkers, including a hat trick by Benoit Dusablon, gave the reeling Ice Dogs their 12th loss of the season.

This Weeks' Games:

12/12/03 > Long Beach @ Fresno

Long Beach will head back out on the road on Friday when they face the Fresno Falcons for the third time this season. The teams have split a pair of meetings thus far, with the home team prevailing both times. The Ice Dogs will be looking to stop their nine game road losing skid and start picking up some ground in the Pacific Division standings.

12/14/03 > Long Beach @ Bakersfield

Sunday the Ice Dogs will travel to Bakersfield for the teams' fourth meeting this season. The Ice Dogs are 2-1 against the Condors, winning both of those games at the Long Beach Arena. The teams will play again in Bakersfield exactly two weeks form the date, on the 28th.
