Condors Win Lone Game

Last Week

Friday, December 5th

The Condors scored twice in the first period and never looked back as they rolled over the Fresno Falcons 5-1 on Friday at Centennial Garden. Johan Astrom scored twice and both he and linemate Kevin Riehl recorded four-point nights in the win. Andrew Ianiero, who made up the third player on their line, had a goal and an assist. Peter Hirsch stopped 21 shots in the game, as the Condors outshot Fresno 39-22 in the match.

Where we are

Bakersfield's 5-1 win over the Falcons put some distance between them and Fresno, who sits in sixth place. The Falcons have lost seven consecutive games in regulation. The Condors are in fifth place in the Pacific Division, at 8-10-2 with 18 points in the standings, four points behind the San Diego Gulls. They are in 10th place overall in the Western Conference.

Perry Headed to the American Hockey League

Condors D Randy Perry was called up by the Utah Grizzlies in the American Hockey League on Monday and will join their team immediately. Perry had skated in the Grizzlies training camp prior to joining the Condors this season. He had 1g-6a-7pts, 25 PIM, -1, in 20 games with the Condors. The Grizzlies, who are the AHL affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, have an official affiliation with the Idaho Steelheads, but Perry, D Jonas Lennartsson and G Peter Hirsch all spent time in their camp this season.

This week

The Condors host the Charlotte Checkers on Tuesday night in a 7:00pm match at Centennial Garden. That night is Student ID Night, sponsored by WB 12, KISS 96.5 and Golden Empire Transit. On all Student ID Nights, all college, high school and jr. high students can get lower level admission for just $1 by presenting their valid student identification.

On Friday night, it's the second game of the week against the Checkers, also slated for a 7:00pm start. Everyone in attendance that night will receive a Condors Stars of the Past, Present and Future poster, courtesy of FOX Sports 800 and the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. These full-color prints feature action photos of some of the most popular players in team history, as well as a few of the up-and-coming favorites, such as: Steve Dowhy, Glen Mears, Paul Willett, Paul Rosebush, Quinn Fair, Jason Ralph, Johan Astrom and more.

The Long Beach Ice Dogs will come into town on Sunday for a 5:00pm start. The kids will be entertained that night by Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberry's, Donnie and Eliza. Bright House Networks, and KLLY 95.3 sponsor The Wild Thornberry's.

The Condors Coach's Show can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 each and every Thursday, live from the Holiday Inn Select next to Centennial Garden from 6:00-7:00pm. This week's guests are Andrew Ianiero and the regular visit from Head Coach Paul Kelly.

Individual seats are on sale now, and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday and at noon on Sunday event days. Notes from the Nest

· The line of LW Johan Astrom – C Kevin Riehl – RW Andrew Ianiero combined for 4g-6a-10pts on Friday.

· Astrom is the only Condor to record any more than two points in a single game. He also had a three-point night on November 8th against Alaska.

· Since a 3-0 loss on Opening Night to the Falcons, the Condors have won three in a row head-to-head, outscoring Fresno 12-5. In their last 20 meetings from the start of last season, the Condors are 16-3-1. The all-time Condors record against the Falcons is 43-42-11.

· The Condors have averaged 35.5 shots on goal in their last four games, including back-to-back 39 shot efforts.

Quote of the Week

"Three words, Tic, Tac, Toe." Condors forward Andrew Ianiero, describing in the Bakersfield Californian the performance of his line on Friday night. They combined for four goals and 10 points that night.
