INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Iowa Cubs (19-30) evened the series at two games apiece with a 5-2 victory over the Indianapolis Indians (27-24), Friday night at Victory Field.

Indianapolis started the scoring in the second inning, when T.J. Rivera hit an RBI double to capitalize on a fielding error from Iowa, taking a 1-0 lead. With two outs in the top of the third, Iowa answered with three runs of their own.

Iowa was in a position to score because Indianapolis' pitcher Steven Wright walked both Trevor Williams and Abiatal Avelino as part of his five total walks in the game. Nick Martini doubled to bring them both in and Trent Giambrone followed the double with an RBI single, growing the lead to two.

The two run lead was all Trevor Williams would need, as he went five innings allowing just the one unearned run on two hits in his second major league rehab start with Iowa. The righty walked one and struck out three on the way to his first Triple-A win of the season.

Joe Biagini replaced Williams in the sixth inning, and Christian Bethancourt struck again, driving in a run on an RBI single to cut Iowa's lead to one. The I-Cubs got insurance in the seventh, when both Alfonso Rivas and Tony Wolters hit solo home runs.

Major league rehabber Dillon Maples and Jake Jewell would provide 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, combining to strike out four Indianapolis hitters to secure a 5-2 victory for Iowa.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Caleb Knight got a single in his first Triple-A at-bat tonight after getting added to the Iowa Cubs' roster just before the game from Double-A Tennessee.

- Alfonso Rivas' home run in the seventh inning marked his first home run of the year with Iowa, and his first since September 1, 2019, against the Tacoma Rainiers.

- Dillon Maples threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief walking one batter and striking out two. Maples got out of a jam created by Joe Biagini in the seventh and then threw a clean eighth inning as well in his third rehab appearance this year with Iowa.

Iowa and Indianapolis will play game five of the six-game series with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm CT tomorrow at Victory Field. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
