Hermosillo Two Homer Night Snaps Skid
August 8, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees scored three runs in the top of the tenth inning and then held on for a 12-11 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Wednesday night to snap a four game losing streak.
With the automatic runner at second base, Taylor Ward and Justin Bour walked to load the bases. Michael Hermosillo hit a ground ball to second and Chase d'Arnaud's throw to the plate was too late to get Jo Adell, who scored the go ahead run. Jose Rojas would follow with a two run double and the Bees would need those insurance runs, as Omaha got a two run homer in the bottom of the tenth by Xavier Fernandez to pull to within one. The Storm Chasers would load the bases with a wild pitch on a strikeout and two walks, but Jeremy Rhoades (3-1) got Jecksson Flores to fly out to Hermosillo to end the game and get the win.
Hermosillo led off the eighth with his second homer of the game to give Salt Lake a 9-6 lead, but Omaha came back to tie it in the bottom of the eighth on a three run homer by Brett Phillips. Hermosillo would lead the Bees with a pair of homers and four runs batted in, while Rojas and Jose Thole would each add two hits and two runs batted in. Salt Lake starter Parker Bridwell went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. The win pushes the Bees above .500 on the road with a record of 27-26.
