May 25, 2022 - International League (IL)
Durham Bulls News Release
Bulls 1B Jim Haley scored the lone run of the game off a solo shot in the second inning.
The Durham Bulls (22-22) stretched their home winning streak to six games with a 1-0 victory against the Charlotte Knights (16-27) on Wednesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, winning their 10th game of their last 12 overall.
After holding Charlotte scoreless in the first two innings, Durham got on the board first as 1B Jim Haley went yard on a solo shot in the bottom of the second for what would prove to be the lone score of the game. Charlotte had the tying run on base in the top of the ninth, however Bulls pitcher Javy Guerra shut the door to secure the win.
C Rene Pinto and CF Cal Stevenson led Durham batters with two hits each, with Pinto extending his on-base streak to 23 consecutive contests. The win gave Durham wins in each of their last six home contests, in addition to 10 victories in their last 12 games overall.
Guerra combined with Shane Baz, Calvin Faucher, Joel Peguero, Phoenix Sanders, and Chris Muller for the Bulls' five-hit shutout, with Faucher earning up the win and Guerra notching the save. Charlotte starting pitcher Jimmy Lambert picked up the loss. Baz in two starts with Durham as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment has allowed one run in 4.2 innings pitched with six strikeouts.
The Bulls return to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Thursday for game three of the six-game set against Charlotte. RHP Kevin Herget (2-0, 0.00) is scheduled to start for Durham and Charlotte's starter has not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
Tickets for that game and all remaining 2022 home dates can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com/tickets.
