
Gwinnett Steals 5-4 Extra Inning Win Over Bulls

Lawrenceville, GA - Leury Garcia delivered a game-winning sacrifice fly in the 10 th to lift Gwinnett past Durham 5-4 on Friday night at Coolray Field.
Leading 4-3 in the last of the 10 th , the Stripers (14-16) put runners at first and third with one out against reliever Carlos Garcia (L, 1-1). Former National League batting champion Yuli Gurriel lifted a shallow pop fly to centerfield, which was dropped by Josh Lowe, permitting the tying run to score. Garcia hit the next batter to load the bases ahead of the Garcia sac fly to left.
Taj Bradley tossed a second straight exceptional rehab start, working 94 pitches across six solid innings. Bradley only allowed a leadoff home run in the first inning, fanning eight.
Ruben Cardenas drilled a two-run homer in the first inning to give Durham (12-19) an early lead. Ronny Simon took out Gwinnett starter Darius Vines to start the second inning as the Bulls went ahead 3-1.
Gwinnett scored a run in the seventh against Edwin Uceta, then tied the game with two outs in the ninth on a single by Andrew Velazquez against Justin Sterner.
The six-game series continues Saturday night at 6:05 PM ET with Shane Baz expected to make a major league rehab start against Allan Winans (1-2, 2.86).
Durham returns home against the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday, May 7 th .
