Grizzlies Open Home Stand With 5-2 Win

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (18-16-2-2) defeated the Ontario Reign 5-2 Friday night at the E-Center in game one of a six-game home stand as Utah played at home for the first time since December 31.

Utah was led by AJ Perry's one goal and three assists while Utah went 4-7 on the power-play, including three-straight to break a 2-2 second period tie. The Grizzlies are now 3-1-0-1 in their last five games.

Ryan Kinasewich gave Utah a 1-0 lead as he knocked in a rebound for his 26th goal of the year 4:24 into the game. Utah made it 2-0 with two seconds left on their first power-play 9:45 into the second period as James Sixsmith centered Vlady Nikiforov for his eighth goal of the year. The Reign made it 2-2 less than four minutes later with two goals in a 22-second span.

The Grizzlies took the game back over with James Sixsmith's tenth of the year with 2:56 left in the second period as he knocked in a lose puck after AJ Perry brought the puck down the left wing side to make it 3-2 on the power-play. Utah added third period goals from Perry and Tim Crowder to make the final 5-2.

Mitch O'Keefe stopped 32 of 34 to improve to 13-6-1-1.

Vlady Nikiforov (one goal, two assists), James Sixsmith (one goal, one assist) and Ryan Kinasewich (one goal, one assist) all had multiple-point games for Utah.

The Grizzlies and Ontario continue their three-game series Saturday and Monday at the E-Center. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
