Thomas Beauregard Gets Called To The AHL

January 22, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling, WV - The leading goal scorer in the ECHL is getting a call-up to the AHL. Thomas Beauregard will take his six game goal scoring streak to Springfield, Mass. to play with the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

The Wheeling Nailers, the AA affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, also had Casey Pierro-Zabotel called up to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton earlier in the day. Because Beauregard is not on contract to the Pittsburgh Penguins he is eligible to be loaned to any AHL team.

The Montreal, Que. native has been red-hot of late scoring 8 goals in his last 6 games and others have taken notice of his natural scoring ability. His 26 goals are most in the ECHL.

This will be Beauregard's second call-up to the American League. Last year while with the Cincinnati Cyclones he was called up to the Hamilton Bulldogs to play eight games for the top affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. In 2006-07 Beauregard scored 71 goals and 53 assists for 124 points in only 69 games for Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is in his third season of professional hockey.

Beauregard becomes the 12th Nailer to receive an AHL call-up this year.
