Kaufman Recalled By AHL Houston

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Brian Kaufman has been reassigned to the Johnstown Chiefs by the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. In 23 games with the Gladiators this season, the 6'4" 205-pound Shoreview, Minnesota native has two goals and three assists for five points and 10 penalty minutes.

Kaufman, 25, made his pro debut with the Gladiators this season after signing an AHL contract with Houston in April of last year. Prior to skating with the Gladiators, Kaufman played four collegiate seasons at Miami University (Ohio), where he notched 32 goals and 54 assists in 125 total games.

Kaufman played two junior seasons with the Billings Bulls of the North American Hockey League, where he posted 118 points over two seasons before enrolling at Miami University. He will reunite with former teammates Michael Couch and Chris Zarb, both of whom played with the Gladiators earlier this season before being traded to Johnstown.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Friday, January 22nd @ Florida at 7:30 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
