Mark Pavli Acquired From Utah, Sorochan Reassigned

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, announced center Mark Pavli (PAV-lee) has been acquired from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations and goaltender Aaron Sorochan has been reassigned to the Thunder from Springfield.

Pavli, 25, is scheduled to make his debut in a Thunder uniform tonight (jersey #6) with newcomer Colin Hemingway, whose ECHL rights were acquired yesterday from the Alaska Aces in exchange for left winger Judd Blackwater.

The 6-foot, 190-pound forward has suited up in 19 games this season for Utah, scoring one goal and notching 30 penalty minutes. He has skated in 72 career ECHL games over the last two seasons (2008-10) with Utah and Cincinnati, totaling 21 points (10g-11a) and 115 penalty minutes.

Pavli made his AHL debut with the Albany River Rats in 2007-08 and suited up in one game.

The native of Sarnia, Ontario skated in 113 career games in college through four seasons (2004-08) with American International College (NCAA), scoring 67 points (22g-45a) and posting 177 penalty minutes.

Sorochan, 25, is under contract to Springfield and in 10 AHL games, he has compiled a record of 1-5-0, a.871 save percentage and a 3.99 goals-against-average.

He was originally assigned to the Thunder on Jan. 1 and has appeared in two ECHL games, going 0-1-1 with a.844 save percentage and 4.99 goals-against-average.

The Thunder returns to play after the All-Star break tonight, continuing the 11-game homestand against the Alaska Aces, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard and viewed online at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks (audio is free of charge).
