Grizzlies, Mike Mole Hold Off Fresno 3-1

Fresno, California - Mike Mole stopped 35 of 36 Fresno shots as the Utah Grizzlies (25-20-0-4) defeated the Falcons 3-1 Friday night at Save Mart Center. Utah is currently 3-0-0-0 on their four-game road trip to California.

Utah took a 1-0 lead with one minute left to go in the first with Ryan Kinasewich feeding Scott Burt for his 18th goal of the year.

It stayed 1-0 until 48 seconds of the third period when Burt fed Keith Johnson for his team-leading 20th goal of the year and it was 2-0. Fresno made it 2-1 23 seconds later.

Utah went shorthanded three times in the third period, including 1:27 of a five-on-three shorthanded situation but was able to keep Fresno off of the scoreboard finishing the game 7-7 on the penalty-kill.

Olivier Labelle added an empty-net power-play goal with 18 seconds remaining to make it 3-1 and that would be the final.

Utah returns to action Saturday in Bakersfield. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Utah returns home Thursday, February 14 opening a three-game-in-three-night home stand with Bakersfield.
