McAllister Gets Mississippi Out To Early Lead But Pack Unable to Hang On

BILOXI, MS - Kyle McAllister got the Mississippi Sea Wolves on the board early in the first period but the Cincinnati Cyclones would score four unanswered goals as they cruised to a 4-1 win over Mississippi at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati on Saturday evening.

Kyle McAllister scored his 9th goal of the season when he broke down two-on-one on the left wing with Michael Couch on his right, Couch floated a pass to McAllister that he fired on net trickled past Cincinnati goalie Cedrick Desjardins to give Mississippi a 1-0 lead at 7:01 of the first period.

Mississippi would hang on to the lead until Cincinnati's James Sixsmith came down on a breakaway and fired at Sea Wolves' goalie Ryan Munce. Munce made the initial save, but Sixsmith batted home the rebound to knot the game at one-apiece at 17:12 of the second period.

Jason Deitsch would score his first goal of the contest on the power play just 1:41 into the third period when David Desharnais fed a waiting Deitsch on the doorstep for a tap-in that gave Cincinnati a 2-1 lead. At 10:04 of the third, Barret Ehgoetz fed Cory Urquhart at the top of the slot, and Urquhart's shot hit the goalpost and went into the net for a 3-1 Cyclones lead. Deitsch would round out the scoring, breaking in on net from the right wing at tucking the puck past Munce on the stick side at 17:42.

Ryan Munce made 24 saves to earn the loss, and Mississippi was 0-for-4 on the power play.
