Grizzlies Have Player Named To Canadian All-Star Team

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - The Utah Grizzlies announced today that right wing Jon Sim has been named as a representative for the AHL Canadian All-Star Team in the Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in Portland, Maine on Monday, February 3rd.

Sim, 25, is the lone Grizzlies' representative for the upcoming contest that will pit Planet USA (a collection of the top AHL players from the United States and Europe) versus the Canadian All-Stars.

The 5-10, 190-pound right wing has played in 25 games for Utah this season scoring nine goals and adding a team-high 22 assists. His 31 points rank him third on the Grizzlies. The New Glasgow, Nova Scotia native is also among the Grizzlies team leaders with four power play goals (T-2nd), two game winning goals (T-2nd), 101 shots (2nd) and a +7 plus/minus rating (2nd).

The former third round selection of the Dallas Stars in the 1996 National Hockey League entry draft has played in four games with the Stars this season not recording a point. In his career, Sim has spent parts of the last five seasons with the Stars playing in 77 total games collecting nine goals and six assists. Sim has also played in 11 career Stanley Cup playoff games with Dallas scoring a goal in Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals versus New Jersey in 2000. Sim also competed in Games One and Four of the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999 versus Buffalo, the year the Stars won the Stanley Cup.
