Columbus' Sean McAslan Suspended for 18 Games

PRINCETON, N.J. – The East Coast Hockey League announced on Friday that following a complete and thorough investigation, it has suspended Columbus right wing Sean McAslan for 18 games as a result of his actions in ECHL Game # 426 vs. Pensacola on December 28.

At the conclusion of the game, McAslan tossed his stick which landed in the stands accidentally striking a spectator. McAslan was assessed a game misconduct under Rule 88(c).

"The throwing of objects by players that could strike or endanger spectators is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the East Coast Hockey League," said Bryan Graham, Vice President of Hockey Operations.

McAslan has already missed Columbus' game at Florida (Dec. 31). He will miss Columbus' games at Mississippi (Jan. 3), at Jackson (Jan. 4), at Jackson (Jan. 5), vs. Columbia (Jan. 7), at Louisiana (Jan. 9), vs. Pensacola (Jan. 14), at Pee Dee (Jan. 17), vs. Pee Dee (Jan. 18), at Greenville (Jan. 19), vs. South Carolina (Jan. 24), vs. Augusta (Jan. 25), vs. Columbia (Jan. 28), vs. Pee Dee (Jan. 31), vs. South Carolina (Feb. 1), at Columbia (Feb. 7), at Augusta (Feb. 8) and vs. Jackson (Feb. 9).

The ECHL will not comment further on the McAslan suspension.
