Greensboro Generals News Release
Greensboro, NC â The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are holding a food drive for their January 10 game against the Richmond Renegades at 7:30. The drive is in conjunction with WFMY News2 and their eleventh annual "Food 2 Families" campaign. As part of Friday's game, fans will receive a buy one ticket, get one free offer (center ice seats) if they bring in four non-perishable food items to the game. The food drive will benefit three separate ministries, the Greensboro Urban Ministry, the Winston-Salem Crisis Control Ministry, and the High Point Open Door Ministries.
The Generals will appear on WFMY News2's "The Good Morning Show" this Monday morning at 6:15 a.m. to support "Food 2 Families" and promote their part in the food drive. There are also segments set aside for each of the ministries, who will be on hand at the Greensboro Coliseum for the live remote. "The Good Morning Show" airs from 5:00 â 8:00 a.m. every weekday.
Also supporting "Food 2 Families" is Harris Teeter, who is donating 1,000 boxes of their brand name macaroni and cheese for the drive. The boxes will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans entering the building at Friday night's Generals game to use as noisemakers. The macaroni and cheese will then be dropped off for the ministries following the game. Any fans wanting to bring in their own "noisemakers" to the game are encouraged to do so.
Aside from the ticket offer, there is another incentive for fans planning to donate non-perishable food items at Friday's game. The fan dropping off the most items will win an autographed goalie stick signed by the entire Greensboro Generals team.
The Generals host the Reading Royals tonight at 7:30. Greensboro also has a home game on Thursday night at 7:00 against the Charlotte Checkers prior to Friday's food drive. The Generals will claim the Carolina Cup if they defeat Charlotte for winning the season series between the two clubs. Ticket prices range from $10.00 - $17.00, with tickets as low as $8.00 for students and seniors. Generals Flex Plans for six, twelve, and 18 games are also available for as little as $50.00.
