January 3, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - Trevor Koenig has been named Goaltender of the Week for the third straight week - fourth time this season - the West Coast Hockey League announced today.

The all-star netminder earns the award after going 3-0 with two shutouts last week. He blanked the Long Beach Ice twice while only allowing one goal to the Bakersfield Condors.

Koenig has reeled off nine straight victories (tying a career high). In those games, he has four shutouts and a 0.92 goals against average. Koenig is the overall league leader with 17 wins, a 1.81 GAA and five shutouts. Those five goose eggs tie a single-season record (set by him and Blair Allison). Koenig now has a WCHL all-time best 14 career shutouts.

The 28-year old native of Edmonton, Alberta holds a career WCHL record of 94-35-7 with a 2.34 GAA.

The Gulls continue their homestand tomorrow against the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7 p.m. Travel Mugs, presented by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, will be given to the first 5,000 fans. San Diego then welcomes Idaho for three games next week. All games can be heard live on 1130AM-KSDO and at www.ksdo.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play. The Gulls' Internet radio show broadcasts live every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on wsradio.com with Tera Black and Jeremy Zager hosting.
