Brett Draney scored a goal and added an assist as the Lexington Men O'War nipped the Dayton Bombers 3-1 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday night. Ben Storey opened the scoring for Lexington with a power play goal 10:55 into the first period. Draney's centering pass glanced off Mark Smith to Storey in the high slot. His shot trickled through the legs of Bombers goalie Shane Bendera and across the goal line.

Draney scored on a rebound goal at 1:27 of the second period after defenseman Dominic Periard's rush to the net was stopped by Bendera. The Bombers cut the Lexington lead to 2-1 at 9:26 of the second period on Jason Deskins' first goal as a member of his new team. Chris M. Thompson and Mike Vellinga recorded the assists on Deskins' score from the slot.

The Bombers mounted a charge in the third period, outshooting Lexington 15-6 for a game total of 29-16, but goalie Dan Murphy made some quality saves. The Men O'War secured the win with an empty-net goal at 19:46 by Marc-Andre Thinel. The Bombers will host Lexington tonight at the Nutter Center (7:30 p.m. game time). Area mascots including the Bombers' Bucky will participate in Mascot Night at the arena.
