March 17, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies (28-27-3-5) turned a 5-1 third period deficit into a 5-4 score with 42 seconds left but were unable to get the equalizer in a 5-4 regulation loss Wednesday night in Boise.
Even with the loss, the Grizzlies still hold a National Conference playoff spot following Bakersfield's 6-3 win versus Ontario.
Utah trailed 2-0 at the first intermission and 3-0 in the second before Ryan Kinasewich got the scoring started with his 39th goal of the year on the power-play with 2:35 left in the middle frame.
The Grizzlies comeback in the third was put in serious jeopardy as they gave up two early goals, including a shorthanded goal 6:14 into the frame but they would battle back.
Tom May scored his 20th of the year 9:02 in the period and Brock Wilson his third of the season at 11:47 and it was 5-3. Following a timeout in the final minute, the Grizzlies pulled goaltender Mitch O'Keefe and got a goal from James Sixsmith (21) to make it 5-4 with 42 seconds left. Utah had several chances in the final seconds but was unable to find the back of the net as time expired.
Simon Ferguson collected a plus-two, one assist and seven penalty minutes in his Utah debut while Marcus Carroll tallied his first pro point on an assist in the third.
Utah now heads for Stockton for three games starting Friday at 8:30 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home for their final three home games of the year starting March 24 when they will host Bakersfield to start a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday series. Face-off all three nights are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
