Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a proud affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, have agreed to terms on an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) with defenseman Trevor Hunt, Thunder head coach Matt Thomas announced today.

Trevor joins brother and left winger Garet (two years Trevor's junior) on the Thunder roster and the occasion marks the first time in Thunder history that two sets of brothers are on the team's active roster (forwards Brett and Colin Hemingway).

"We've been looking to strengthen our depth on the blueline down the stretch and we're looking forward adding Trevor's qualities to our lineup," said Thomas. "He comes as a highly-recommended, puck-moving defenseman with a great skill set, a great shot from the point and like his brother, plays with an edge. We're looking forward to his contributions right from the outset."

Hunt, who just turned 24 three days ago, is expected to make his professional debut tonight (7:00 p.m.) against the Victoria Salmon Kings at Stockton Arena, starting at 7:00 p.m. (StocktonThunder.com/B2 Networks).

Just recently, Trevor finished his four-year (2006-10) college playing career at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA), suiting up in 100 games while scoring 22 points (5g-17a) and collecting 100 penalty minutes. As a senior, Hunt had one goal and three assists from the blueline in 25 games.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound blueliner had a career-high 12 points (4g-8a) and 38 penalty minutes in 36 games as a 2008-09 junior and was honored as a three-time All-WCHA All-Academic team in his last three years (2007-10).

Hunt's ATO agreement is on a five-game tryout basis with Stockton.

Additionally, the Thunder placed right wing J.F. Caudron on the three-day injured reserve list.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew 223,854 fans to Stockton Arena in 2008-09. Season tickets for 2009-10 are on sale now.
