Grizzlies Fall 7-5 In Boise

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads (43-13-1-4) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (28-26-3-5) 7-5 Tuesday night in Boise.

Utah took a 1-0 lead just 1:26 into the contest on a Peter Aston power-play goal but that lead would last just 1:30 before Idaho tied the game at 2:56 and took their first lead of the night 6:37 into the opening frame at 2-1. Idaho would never look back as they extended the score to 4-1 and 5-2 before the Grizzlies started to mount a comeback.

Utah made it 5-3 on an AJ Perry power-play goal at 15:26 of the second period and made it 5-4 for the second intermission just 1:08 later as Vlady Nikiforov (15,16) buried his second of the night.

Idaho made it 6-4 on a goal 10:36 into the third period but the Grizzlies countered 1:08 later to get back within one as Aston struck again. Though, Utah was unable to tie as the Steelheads made it 7-5 at 12:58 on a power-play goal and that would be the final.

Beau Erickson relieved Mitch O'Keefe, who gave up five goals on 15 shots and went the rest of the way stopping 11 of 13.

Malcolm MacMillan added two assists for Utah, AJ Perry had one goal and one assist.

Utah and the Steelheads meet again Wednesday in Boise at 7:10 p.m. as Utah continues their weeklong road trip.

The Grizzlies return home for their final three home games of the year starting March 24 when they will host Bakersfield to start a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday series. Face-off all three nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
