Utah Grizzlies News Release
Bakersfield, California - The Bakersfield Condors defeated the Utah Grizzlies (6-3-1-1) 4-3 Friday night in California.
The Condors (5-7), who had lost four-straight games and been outscored 19-4 in the stretch finally pulled things together with a three-goal second period to erase a 2-0 first intermission lead. Utah's three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-0-1) came to an end in the game.
The Grizzlies made it 1-0 just 36 seconds in as Jason Fredricks setup an odd-man rush as he picked up a turnover in his own end and fed Tim Crowder for his third goal of the year. Hugo Carpentier also picked up an assist. Utah made it 2-0 late in the first as Brad Snetsinger and Ric Jackman worked the puck to Carpentier who buried his fourth goal of the year.
"I thought we played pretty good, but three mistakes led to three goals and that kept us from winning," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley.
Each team scored in the third, with Utah making it 4-3 on a Snetsinger power-play goal as Utah played tic-tac-toe on the five-on-three power-play 6:48 into the third period. Jackman and Brent Gauvreau added assists. The Grizzlies peppered 12 more shots on goaltender Josh Tordjman the rest of the way, but were unable to get the equalizer.
The Grizzlies complete their season-long eight-game road trip Saturday in Bakersfield. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
Utah returns home Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 to host the Alaska Aces at Maverik Center. Friday is Maverik night. All tickets are $5 for fans presenting a receipt from Maverik at the arena box office. Fans who present military identification Saturday will receive a $5 game ticket as well.
