Elmira, NY - The Albany Devils returned goaltender Dave Caruso and defenseman Dave Leaderer to Trenton Saturday, after both players had been sent from Trenton to Albany earlier this season. The announcement was made by Albany and Trenton General Manager Chris Lamoriello.
Caruso, 28, returns to Trenton after being recalled to Albany November 10. This season with Trenton, Caruso has a 1-2-0-1 record with a 3.96 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage, highlighted by his ECHL-record, 67-save performance against Gwinnett October 29. A four-year letterwinner at Ohio State University, Caruso has been in the Devils system for the past four years, appearing in 33 AHL games and 86 ECHL contests.
Leaderer, 24, returns to Trenton after signing a professional tryout contract with Albany October 29. In five games with Albany, his first contests at the AHL level, Leaderer posted an assist and two penalty minutes. Since joining the ECHL Devils for the 2008-09 season, he has played in 148 games, posting 22 goals and 41 assists. A four-year letterwinner at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Leaderer appeared in 149 consecutive games for the Minutemen and registered 11 goals and 22 assists.
