Stockton Thunder News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Chris D'Alvise's fourth career hat trick helped the Stockton Thunder (7-1-3, 17 points) erase a two-goal deficit and rally in a 5-4 victory over the Idaho Steelheads, before 4,858 fans at Qwest Arena on Saturday.

The Thunder, who became the first team since the 2007-08 Fresno Falcons to take at least five of six points in a three-game series in the regular season at Qwest Arena, stretched its unbeaten streak in regulation to 7-0-3 in ten games, one shy of the Thunder record (set in 2006-07). Bretton Cameron and Chris Lawrence also chipped in with goals for the Thunder.

Lawrence put the Thunder ahead, 1-0 with 6:32 into the game for his fourth goal of the season. Lawrence set a screen in front of goaltender Mike Zacharias and caught a piece of Cameron Brodie's drive from the right point.

Sean Backman leveled the score, 1-1 for Idaho with 5:45 left in the period, corralling Marty Flichel's outlet pass and blasting a slap shot to the back of the net from the right circle. It started a three unanswered goal rally for the Steelheads.

With 16:21 left in the second period, Kael Mouillierat's wrap-around put Idaho ahead, 2-1 when he snuck a forehand bid inside the right goal post.

Following a series of penalties to Jason Pitton in a physical altercation, Idaho stretched the lead to 3-1 on a seven-minute, major power-play when Marty Flichel blistered a slapshot past Bryan Pitton from the left point.

D'Alvise started the Thunder comeback with his eighth goal of the season, closing the gap to 3-2 with 2:35 to play. D'Alvise won a faceoff at the left circle in Idaho's zone and re-directed a pass from Jim McKenzie quickly through Zacharias' five-hole.

Cameron then found the back of the net, off the rush, with a wrist shot from the right circle. He was set up by Chris Lawrence, tying the game at 3-3 with 29 seconds left in the second period.

D'Alvise scored his second goal of the game to give the Thunder the lead, 4-3, on a power-play goal with 8:48 remaining when he stickhandled around the Idaho defense and beat Zacharias with a wrist shot from the right circle.

D'Alvise's hat trick goal boosted the edge to 5-3 with 4:35 left, when he picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, raced around the Idaho defense and deked Zacharias to the stick side.

Idaho got back in the game on a Thunder turnover behind the net and Marty Flichel found Michael Neal open at the right goal post to cut the deficit to 5-4 with 3:27 left.

After a Thunder penalty with 27 seconds left, Idaho buzzed the Thunder net with pressure on a 6-on-4 skating situation, but missed wide on several chances which sealed the game.

Bryan Pitton improved to 4-0-1 in net with 17 saves. Zacharias took the loss with 31 stops.
