Las Vegas claims 3-1 victory over Victoria in second game of series

Las Vegas, NV - In a Friday night matchup at the Orleans Arena, the Victoria Salmon Kings took on the Las Vegas Wranglers. The Salmon Kings started David Shantz, while Michael Ouzas was between the pipes for the Wranglers.

The first period of play ended with both teams knotted in a scoreless game. Shantz made nine saves in the frame, while Ouzas turned away all four shots he faced.

Las Vegas scored the game's first goal at the 18:21 mark of the second period. Barry Goers' shot was redirected in front of the net by Blake Gallagher and past Shantz. The goal was Gallagher's second of the campaign, and sent the Wranglers into the second intermission with a 1-0 advantage.

The Wranglers extended their lead 6:03 into the third period. A shot from the right boards was stopped by Shantz, but on the rebound Vince Bellissimo put the puck through the legs of the Victoria netminder for his third of the year. The Salmon Kings pulled within a goal with 2:04 left in the game with an extra-attacker out as Ryan MacMurchy snapped a shot from the right faceoff dot past Ouzas. The tally gave MacMurchy two on the year. The Salmon Kings pressed for the tying goal with their net remaining empty, but Ned Lukacevic registered an empty-net goal at the 19:28 mark to round out the scoring. Wranglers 3 Salmon Kings 1.

Victoria went 0/5=00.0% on the power play, while Las Vegas was 0/9=00.0%. The Wranglers outshot the Salmon Kings 29-16.
