Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, beat the Alaska Aces 2-1 in overtime Friday. Kellen Briggs stood on his head, saving 37 of the 38 shots he faced, and Jeff Corey went end-to-end in overtime, as the Reign steal one in Alaska.
The game was scoreless until 10:26 of the third period when Scott Howes put Alaska up 1-0. Just fifteen seconds later, Michael Pelech scored his first goal of the season to even it up at 1-1. The goalies kept up their stellar play for the remainder of the game and forced overtime.
Momentum seemed to favor the Aces, but just thirty-nine seconds into overtime, Corey went coast-to-coast and beat Gerald Coalman to give the Reign a victory. Briggs saved 38 of 39 in the win, while Coleman took the loss with 12 saves in 14 shots.
Tonight's three stars were: 1) ONT - Jeff Corey
2) ONT - Kellen Briggs
3) AK - Scott Howes
