
Ricci Scores Two in 5-3 Loss to Royals

Reading, PA -Stingrays forward Rob Ricci scored two goals as the South Carolina Stingrays (3-6-1-0) fell to the Reading Royals (6-5-0-0) 5-3 in front of 5,614 at Sovereign Center Saturday night.
The Royals kicked off the scoring at 15:36 of the first period when defenseman Alain Goulet fired a shot from the right-wing point through a screen, beating Stingrays goaltender Jared DeMichiel. Defenseman Ryan Donald and forward Ben Gordon earned the assists.
Stingrays forward Maxime Lacroix tied the contest 59 seconds into the second period tapping in a pass from forward Nikita Kashirsky past Royals goaltender Matt Dalton. Forward Tommy Goebel recorded the second assist on Lacroix's fifth goal of the season. Reading made it 2-1 at 3:14 as forward Matt Caruana slipped a shot between the legs of DeMichiel. Forwards Chris Blight and Andrew Sarauer received assists. Ricci tied the contest with an unassisted marker on the power play at 5:13. Sarauer reclaimed the lead for the Royals at 12:23 from Blight and Caruana.
Royals forward Olivier Labelle carried the scoring into the third period with a tally 43 seconds into the frame. Forward Ben Gordon and defenseman Matt Generous netted assists. Ricci pulled the Stingrays within one at 15:41 by knocking in a rebound from forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien. Caruana iced the contest with an empty-net goal at 19:29.
DeMichiel suffered the loss stopping 27 of 31 Royals shots. Dalton improved to 3-2-0 kicking away 34 of 37 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-5 on the power play while the Royals went 0-for1.
The Stingrays wrap up their three-game road trip tomorrow, Sunday, November 14 against the Royals at 5:05 p.m. at Sovereign Center.
