Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Las Vegas, NV - In a Saturday night matchup the Victoria Salmon Kings and the Las Vegas Wranglers met in the final of a three-games in three-night set at the Orleans Arena. Victoria's Daren Machesney started in net, while Las Vegas gave the nod to Joe Fallon.
The Wranglers scored the lone goal of the first period at the 3:54 mark on Ned Lukacevic's fourth goal of the season. A streaking Lukacevic received a breakaway pass from Vince Bellissimo and wristed a shot past the blocker of Machesney. Fallon stopped all 11 shots he faced as the Wranglers skated into the intermission with a 1-0 advantage.
Las Vegas extended their lead at the 7:29 mark of the middle frame. Tyler Mosienko fed a breakaway pass to Bellissimo at the blue line who made a forehand to backhand move to lift the puck up and over the right pad of Machesney. The goal was Bellissimo's fourth of the campaign. The Wranglers took their 2-0 lead into the third period.
Greg Collins added the Wranglers' third tally of the game at the 14:08 mark of the third period. Dan Bertram took the puck down the right wing boards and fired a cross-crease pass to Collins who redirected the puck past Machesney's right pad for his first goal of the year. Victoria would get on the board with 29 seconds left in the game when Milan Gajic collected his own rebound at the left side of the net and fired a shot past Fallon. Gajic's sixth tally of the season rounded out the scoring for the game. Wranglers 3 Salmon Kings 1.
