Grizzlies Beat Alaska 7-3

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Alaska Aces 7-3 Friday night at the E-Center to improve to 2-0 on the season. 12 different Grizzlies scored in the game.

Brandon Scero got the Grizzlies scoring started with a goal 18:27 into the first period and the Grizzlies led 1-0 after one.

In the second, Alaska tied the game at one just 1:12 into the period before the Grizzlies retook the lead at 6:01 with a James Sixsmith shorthanded goal to begin a stretch of four unanswered goals in 8 minutes and 17 seconds to give Utah a 5-1 lead.

Scero scored again and James Sanford added another in the third to make 7-3 the final score.

Ryan Kinasewich (one goal, two assists), Mike Walsh (one goal, one assist) and Sixsmith (one goal, two assists) all had multiple-point games for Utah.

Nathan Lawson stopped 33 of 36 Alaska shots to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Utah went 1-5 on the power-play and killed six-straight shorthanded situations to extend their penalty-killing streak to 14-straight situations.

The Grizzlies complete their home opening weekend tomorrow hosting Alaska again at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
