Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY- Tyler Donati, Jackals forward and ECHL leading scorer, continued his hot streak with a four point night on Friday evening at First Arena as the Jackals beat the Augusta Lynx 4-3 in overtime.

The scoring got started just 5:16 into the first period. A Moises Gutierrez goal with assists to Tyler Donati and Wes Cunningham. The Lynx evened the score late in the period on a Justin Keller goal. The Jackals would then retake the lead with 0:47 left in the first period. Josh Aspenlind made a beautiful move to put the puck past Riku Helenius for the 2-1 lead.

The second period featured superb goaltending from Jackals goalie Mitch O'Keefe. Turning aside 24 shots through the first two periods, O'Keefe was unbeatable until the 19:56 mark of the middle frame. Making the initial save, O'Keefe went to cover the puck only to have Matt Aufrey jam it home.

Tied heading into the third, the Jackals would again retake the lead on Tyler Donati's third point of the game. After taking a pass from Travis Gawrylets, Donati fired an odd angled shot on goal that found its way to the back of the net. The Lynx would again counter, this time at the 15:57 mark on an Aaron Slattengren goal. Tied after regulation, overtime would be needed.

At the 3:20 mark of overtime Tyler Donati and Steve Yetman would assist on the Wes Cunningham game winning goal. Cunninghams first pro goal, was a beautiful wrist shot that deflected off of the post and in.
