Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs couldn't quite get their offense on track on Friday night and lost to the Dayton Bombers by a score of 1-0.

The lone goal of the game came at 2:59 of the first period when Dan Riedel scored a power play marker on a slap shot from the right wing. Ryan Smyth and Jarret Lukin picked up assists.

The Chiefs had a 5-on-4 power play advantage for the final 1:23 of regulation, and they pulled goaltender Ian Keserich for the extra attacker, but Dayton was able to stem the tide and turn away several quality scoring opportunities.

Johnstown had its best period in the second when they outshot Dayton 8 to 3, but David Shantz turned aside each shot he faced. The Chiefs were awarded 13 power plays on the night while Dayton had eight. Ian Keserich played solid in net as he made 23 saves, including a strong pad save on a shorthanded breakaway by Ryan Smyth in the second frame.

Keserich took the loss in his fourth consecutive start to begin the season, and holds a 2-2-0 record.
