Greensboro Swarm Acquires Durrell Summers

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced today that the team acquired Durrell Summers via the available player pool.

Summers, 30, comes to the Swarm with G League and international experience. The former Michigan State University standout most recently was with Eisbaren Bremerhaven in Germany, where he played in 13 games and averaged 7.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game. He has also played professionally in Argentina, Mexico, Chile and across Europe.

The Detroit native's last stint in the G League was in 2014-15 with the Westchester Knicks. He has also played for Reno Bighorns (2014-15), Idaho Stampede (2012-13) and Maine Red Claws (2011-12). Summers went undrafted in 2011 after four seasons with the Spartans (2007-11). He averaged 11.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 34 games during his senior season in East Lansing.

The 2019-20 season kicks off on Saturday, November 9, when the Swarm travel to Erie to face the BayHawks (New Orleans Pelicans affiliate). The Swarm's first home game is against the Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks affiliate) for the annual School Day Game for Guilford County Schools on Wednesday, November 13. Opening Night (Friday, November 22) will see the Swarm host the Windy City Bulls (Chicago Bulls affiliate).
