October 26, 2019 - NBA G League (G League) - Northern Arizona Suns News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Suns added top talent to their 2019-20 roster on Saturday, as they selected three players in the 2019 NBA G League Draft.
With the first overall pick, the Suns drafted forward Anthony Lawrence II. Later in the first round, the Suns drafted guard Keljin Blevins (15th overall) and guard Jahmal McMurray (21st overall). The Suns passed on their four remaining draft selections (Nos. 29, 33, 57, 85).
Lawrence (6-7, 210 pounds) played the last four seasons collegiately for the University of Miami in Florida. As a senior, Lawrence averaged 12.6 points on 45.3 percent shooting, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32 games (all starts). For his collegiate career, he logged 130 games played (81 starts), averaging 8.0 points on 45.6 percent shooting (37.8 percent from distance), 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals.
"Anthony checks off a lot of the boxes, as far as shooting, playmaking, size, all those things we were looking for. He has a unique combination of all of them," General Manager Jeff Feld said. "He's unique because he's not just a shooter, he can come in and create, and handle the ball well himself. We're really excited to add him to the training camp roster."
The 23-year-old played in the 2019 NBA Summer League with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he logged eight games in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Lawrence, a St. Petersburg, Florida, native, averaged 5.2 points and 1.8 rebounds across those eight games.
Blevins (6-6, 200 pounds) played his last two collegiate years at Montana State University, averaging 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds his senior year in 31 games (all starts). Across four collegiate seasons between Montana State and Southern Mississippi (2014-16), the 23-year-old played in 117 games (99 starts). After going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, Blevins played in the 2019 NBA Summer League with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Hot Springs, Arkansas, native, played in three games for the Blazers.
McMurray (6-0, 180 pounds) played his last two seasons at Southern Methodist University. McMurray, 22, averaged 18.1 points (44.9 FG%, 39.5 3PT%, 82.7 FT%) as a senior, also posting 2.6 assists per game and 2.3 rebounds per game in 32 games (31 starts). That year, he earned All-AAC Second Team honors. Across both seasons with the Mustangs, the Topeka, Kansas, native, averaged 16.7 points (44.1 FG%, 40.0 3PT%, 82.9 FT%), 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 54 games (45 starts). McMurray played his first two years with the University of South Florida, getting 33 games (26 starts) as a freshman. He was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team for averaging 15.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
