College Park Skyhawks Select Cameron Lard and Ronshad Shabazz in 2019 G League Draft

ATLANTA - The College Park Skyhawks, the official G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, selected Cameron Lard (Iowa State) and Ronshad Shabazz (Appalachian State) with the 11th and 13th overall picks in the 2019 G League Draft that took place today in New York, the team announced.

Lard, a 6'9" forward, most recently played for the Orlando Magic's Summer League team in Las Vegas in July 2019. In his sophomore campaign at Iowa State (2018-19), he averaged 5.6. points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 12.5 minutes (.694 FG%). In 2017-18, as a redshirt freshman, Lard earned an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after averaging 12.6 points in 26.4 minutes on 60% shooting from the field, good for second in the conference. Lard was one of 11 players selected in the first round that appeared at the 2019 NBA G League Player Invitational that took place in August at the Quest Multisport Complex in Chicago.

Shabazz played all four seasons at Appalachian State and finished his career with 2,067 points, which ranks second all-time in school history and owns the record for field goals made in a career with 712. During his senior campaign, he led the Mountaineers in scoring before being named All-Sun Belt for the third consecutive season. The 6'5" guard averaged 18.3 points per game and 2.3 assists per game in 32.2 minutes (.441 FG%, .376 3FG%, .815 FT%). As a junior, Shabazz led the team in scoring with 18.5 points per game and in assists with 100 (3.0 assists per game).

Northern Arizona selected Anthony Lawrence II (Miami) with the first overall pick and Sioux Falls drafted Trey Mourning (Georgetown) with the second pick. Six International players from six countries were drafted, including three first-round selections. All players who were drafted will be invited to their respective team's training camps, beginning on Monday, Oct. 28.

The Skyhawks begin their inaugural season on Nov. 8, facing off against the Erie BayHawks on the road. The team returns to defend its home floor for the first time on Nov. 21, taking on the Delaware Blue Coats in a 7 p.m. tip at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park.
